It may seem strange that onions appear in the first volume of The Alchemist's Cookbook Series, which majors so much on cakes! It is, though in the “Kill All Known Germs Preparation” due to its fabulous “expulsion” properties, as well as its known ability to remove germs, which cause colds and other bugs from the air.
One thing to do, for example, with an onion if you are suffering from an extended cold is to cut it in half and put it by your bed. It takes up all the bugs in the atmosphere including the ones you will be breathing out and in this way, will help to relieve you of your ailment!
Onions are part of the “pungent” category of foods and are good for bringing the lungs and large intestine into balance.
Onions have been used throughout history as a preventative during epidemics of cholera and plague. The Roman Emperor, Nero, was said to eat them as a cure for colds and its reputation for elimination of germs has made it a popular component in the diets of many countries as a result.
Onions contain natural sugar as well as Vitamins A; B6; C and E. They also contain the trace minerals of Sodium; Potassium and Iron, as well as good quantities of dietary fibre. They are also a great source of folic acid (in its natural form of folate).
Their effectiveness at eliminating bugs is particularly powerful when consumed raw. In the Kill All Known Germs Preparation, all the vegetables used are processed raw and then, effectively pickled in the Raw Apple Cider Vinegar. The resulting liquid then retains all of the “bug-eliminating” properties of the collective ingredients, which is what makes it so powerful! Onion, being one of the ingredients, is therefore additionally effective because of it being combined with other potent “bug-buster” ingredients!
Onions have been used in traditional medicine for centuries for the relief of:-
colds
coughs
catarrh
asthma
and, due to a compound in them called allylpropyl disulpide, (thought to have a similar effect to insulin in balancing blood sugar levels), it may be beneficial for those suffering from hypoglycaemia
