p Milk is made from crushing and soaking hemp seeds in water. Hemp Seeds are totally different to Marjuana as they contain no THC nor are they in any way to be considered a drug or illegal product. THC is an abbreviation of Tetrahydrocannabinol and is one of at least 113 cannabinoids found in cannabis. THC is the principal psychoactive constituent of cannabis. Hemp Milk comes under the Sweet Category of Foods, and thus are great for bringing the spleen and stomach into balance. They feature in the Blood Sugar-Stabilising Breakfast Pancakes in Volume 2 of the Alchemist’s Cookbook Series - Breakfasts-Light Bites-Breads & Soups, as well as a number of recipes in Volume One - Cakes-Cordials-Conserves & Preserves.
Hemp Seeds and Hemp Milk are something completely different! They are packed full of huge amounts of nutrients, including:-
Approximately 50% of our daily requirement of calcium is found in just one cup of Hemp Milk
It is full of Omega-3 and Omega-6 Fatty Acids
It contains Vitamins A; B and E as well as high levels of protein
There are also high levels of the minerals potassium; iron; magnesium and zinc
Hemp Milk is free from cholesterol and contains only 140 calories per glass – if unsweetened
It contains no sugar and is also gluten-free
All these qualities are fabulous for improving our skin. This is particularly due to the high levels of antioxidants found in vitamins A and E. This is because antioxidants reduce the amount of oxidative stress, which causes wrinkles; inflammation and other signs of ageing.
The high levels of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are linked to increasing our cognitive performance; our concentration and improving our memory.
As mentioned above, there is no cholesterol in hemp milk, and, though, in addition to the high levels of antioxidants, they are also high in potassium. Both of these qualities are excellent for lowering inflammatory conditions associated with atherosclerosis (heart disease) and for reducing the build-up of plaque in our arteries, thus helping to reduce our blood pressure, too.
Due to the high antioxidants and minerals present in Hemp Milk, people who regularly drink it tend to have a stronger immune system.
Due to the high levels of calcium in Hemp Milk, together with the other minerals, drinking it regularly can improve our bone density as well as lower our risk to osteoporosis (the crumbling and deterioration of our bones)
