This is a variation on a recipe I discovered years ago by Gudrun Johnnson who wrote “Gut Reaction”. I added the root ginger and turmeric to the recipe to give added digestive cleansing help and anti-viral; anti-spasmodic; anti-bacterial and analgesic properties to the mix. I find it rather pleasant and it is great to do every six months to help keep your digestive system in good working order!
Preparation and blending time:- 5 minutes Quantity:- approximately 0.6 litres
Equipment:- Blender - Sieve or Jelly Strainer Bag * - Large Jug * I use one from Lakeland – excellent all-round! Ingredients:- 1 pint / 500 ml filtered Water - 1 organic Lemon - 1 tablespoon Olive Oil - 1 oz / 25 g fresh Root Ginger - 1 inch piece of fresh Root Turmeric Method:- 1. Cut the lemon into quarters 2. Place all the ingredients in the blender and blend for 2 minutes until smooth 3. Strain through a sieve or muslin bag into a “lipped” bowl, then pour into a jug and store in the fridge
Directions for use- Half-fill a glass and add the same again of hot or cold water, depending on your preference – if cold, it must be room temperature – never from the fridge and with no added ice as this causes a shock to the body. If you have a propensity towards feeling cold, add hot water and, conversely, if you are naturally a “hot” person body-wise, add cold. Drink throughout the day until it is finished.
