Balance for Men was created in June 2022 after a friend was diagnosed with mild Prostate Cancer, and so I felt it was time to create something specifically for men’s health all-round. So here it is!   The combination of the Elixir for internal use, together with the intuitively created blend of Lemon; May Chang & Mandarin Essential Oils in the Energy Spray and Healing Cream work in synergy to uplift and bring into balance all parts of the “masculine”. This can also be beneficial for women whose “masculine” side (too much giving !) is out out balance. I was guided to make a set for a dear friend who was in just this state!

The Gem Herb & Flower Essences used are:-

Horsetail - has great beneficial uses as a genitourinary cleanser as well as being an astringent herb. It is one of the most diuretic species of all plants, possessing a great capacity to eliminate water from the body. Thus it enables to body to eliminate toxins and poisons from the body. It is also known to treat prostate problems, urinary tract infection, kidney stones, incontinence, cystitis and urethritis, as well as arthritis and haemorrhage. As it is very high in silica, it is helpful for repairing connective tissue and cartilage, as well as healing wounds. It is also believed to have cancer-healing properties. Warning: must not be used in pregnancy.

Bindweed Root - I have always had an abundance of bindweed in my garden! I discovered it is a very effective detoxifier & that it also has special properties within it which stop the flow of blood to tumours, whether benign or cancerous. I was guided to make three types of bindweed; one for the upper body; a separate ones including the flowers, vines and leaves & the other for the lower. All three are detoxification properties and powerful cancer-healing / prevention properties. The Bindweed Root, is for the digestive system, and lower eliminatory organs.

I was guided to make three types of bindweed; one for the upper body; a separate ones including the flowers, vines and leaves & the other for the lower. All three are detoxification properties and powerful cancer-healing / prevention properties. The upper body tincture is made of the vines, leaves and flowers only. I was guided to make this as a separate one, to cleanse and detox the upper body area, including the head; neck; brain; eyes; middle and inner ears and sinus/nose/throat.

Rosebay Willow Herb: is often used as a domestic herbal remedy, though it is little used in conventional herbalism. It is renown for being exceptionally beneficial for both Prostate health in men, and hormonal health in women. Renowned European herbalist Maria Trebens had used it specifically for the prostate. It was found effective, after thousands of anecdotal reports from men for remedying prostatitis (swelling and inflammation of the prostate gland) and growth of the prostate growth (scientifically known as BPH, benign prostatic. hyperplasia). The compound responsible, Oenothein B, has been identified as the polyphenol responsible for its effect on the prostate. Trebens further recommended it for urinary tract infections, cystitis, kidney, and bladder problems. It is excellent, too, in skin care, being good as part of a salve for cuts, burns, rashes, acne, eczema and psoriasis and is used commercially in skin care products. Some studies show it has an anti-inflammatory effects on the skin which has been shown to be comparable with steroid creams. Native people have used the mashed up root for boils, infections and abscesses, the leaves were plastered on. The herb is antispasmodic, astringent, demulcent, emollient, hypnotic, laxative and tonic. Rosebay Willowherb is full of Vitamins A and C, together with a plethora of anti-oxidants It is also an excellent herb for the digestive tract with a history of its use in treating infectious. This is because of its anti-microbial, and astringent properties. It also has an anti-inflammatory effect on the bowel so helpful at managing ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis and ulcers. Rosebay Willowherb, apart from being anti-bacterial and anti-viral, has an anti-fungal action too and was effective against all the nine fungal species tested in laboratory studies. It is particularly effective in treating Candida, with a pre-biotic effect that can help support normal gut flora. Following on from this, its anti- inflammatory, astringent and healing effects are fabulous in treating Irritable Bowel Syndrome too. When we have a prevalence of damage to the human microbiome, from the overuse of antibiotics; glyphosates in our food and environment, excess hidden processed sugar in so many foods, mercury in fillings, processed foods, chlorinated water etc., this can lead to an overgrowth of unhelpful gut bacteria. Candida being one such species. These fungal spores cause not only problems in our gut, but also fungal problems around the body. Rosebay Willowherb has also been studied in labs, where it was found to be effective against the flu virus, improving mortality and survival rates. As a flower essence, it is exceptionally beneficial at treating burn out; PTSD and helping us to reconnect to the earth again. In these exceptionally trying times, where the whole of humanity is being controlled by “the few”, having access to a herb which not only provides excellent health benefits for our physical well-being, but also for emotional health, too.

Evening Primrose – I am blessed that every year, this special and magical plant is brought into my garden by the birds. This beautiful, natural yellow Flower Essence balances the body; hormones and emotions in both men and women and works in synergy with the other gem and flower essences present.

Dandelion Root - I collect the roots in the autumn and make my Dandelion Root Tincture, which has been known for centuries for being a fabulous diuretic and genitourinary cleanser as well as a liver detox. Dandelion Root is also believed to have known cancer-healing benefits as well. There are also other compounds in dandelions, which help to treat haemorrhaging in the liver. Furthermore, dandelions aid in maintaining the proper flow of bile, while also stimulating the liver and promoting digestion. Proper digestion can reduce the chances of constipation, which in turn reduces the risk of more serious gastrointestinal issues. They contain antioxidants, including Vitamin C and Luteolin, which keep the liver functioning in optimal gear and protect it from ageing. There are also other compounds in dandelions, which help to treat haemorrhaging in the liver.

Elderflower – I have been using Elderflower for a long time in many of my preparations – such as the Balance Ranges; Magical Rejuvenation; Bite Relief and Super Detox. Elder as a plant is one of the most phenomenal healing plants, valued by the 17th Century Herbalist John Evelyn, who wrote in 1664 "If the medicinal properties of its leaves, bark, and berries were fully known, I cannot tell what our country men would ail for which he might not fetch a remedy from every hedge either for sickness or wounds." Its flowers whether dried or as an Essence are also known to be an “eliminator” of toxins from the body, encouraging the body to eliminate poisons from your system.

Cleavers Macerated: There are two main types of Cleavers that I use. This one is made by crushing the fresh cleavers using a pestle and mortar. It has its own unique healing properties and, when used in conjunction with other herbal or flower essences, including the Cleavers Dark, they maximise the healing process. Cleavers Elixir is phenomenal at removing toxins from the lymphatic system. It is also alterative (blood purifier), Antiphlogistic (acting against inflammation or fever) anti-inflammatory, astringent (In medicine, astringents cause constriction or contraction of mucous membranes and exposed tissues and are often used internally to reduce discharge of blood serum and mucous secretions, This can happen with a sore throat, haemorrhages, diarrhoea, and peptic ulcers)., depurative (herbs, which are known to have purifying and detoxifying effects), diaphoretic (increases perspiration, so good for “sweating out” toxins), diuretic, febrifuge (dispels or reduces fever); tonic (boost) and vulnerary (encourages the healing of wounds). It is often taken to treat skin problems such as eczema and psoriasis. It is also a general detoxifying agent in all illnesses, including for serious illnesses such as cancer.

Cleavers Dark is made with four different types of previously dried cleavers; the early season (March harvest); mid-May Season; Summer Flower Season, and early Autumn Season. It has a stronger smell and is much darker than the macerated cleavers. It has all of the same health benefits. Sometimes both cleavers is needed, and when creating a bespoke preparation, it may well be that a person is guided to either just the Dark or Macerated Cleavers instead. English Yarrow - The Elixirs I have hare made from a combination of specially selected Yarrow from England and Sweden. It cleanses and purifies the blood; reduces inflammation; being antiseptic, antispasmodic, astringent, carminative, digestive, emmenagogue, stimulant, and a tonic; colds, cramps, fevers, kidney disorders, toothaches, skin irritations, and haemorrhages, regulates menses, stimulates the flow of bile, heal stomach ulcers, amenorrhoea, abdominal cramps, abscesses, trauma and bleeding!

Swedish Yarrow – like the English Yarrow, it contains all the same healing properties. It cleanses and purifies the blood; reduces inflammation; being antiseptic, antispasmodic, astringent, carminative, digestive, emmenagogue, stimulant, and a tonic; colds, cramps, fevers, kidney disorders, toothaches, skin irritations, and haemorrhages, regulates menses, stimulates the flow of bile, heal stomach ulcers, amenorrhoea, abdominal cramps, abscesses, trauma and bleeding! This herb and flower is collected in Southern Sweden by my partner, Obi.

Golden Scapolite - has also been call the ‘Mind's Teacher’ as it helps us to strengthen and stimulate our higher mind. It is a stone that enables the mind to open up, allowing us to tune-in to our deep, inner knowledge and “knowing”. It clears the way for a pure flow of energy from our heart to our mind thus enabling us to act in intuitively in thought, word and deed.
The five Golden Scapolite pieces that were used to make the Gem Essence have additional properties of transformation; particularly opening up the channel between the Solar Plexus Chakra (just above our Diaphragm) and the Heart Chakra points. This enables us to think; act and “be” from our heart centre and combines these two energy centres so that we are able to increasingly act from a state of “love” and true “self-power” thus enabling us to hear our inner voice and thus “tune-in” to our intuitive knowing.

Angelite – this beautiful pale blue stone brings in the Etheric healing vibrations from the Angelic Realm to the Higher Heart Chakra (Thymus) so bringing balance to the chest and Heart. It has been attributed as being one of the stones of awareness of the New Age. As an elixir it creates a protective environment for the body, aligning our “self” with our “SELF” transmuting all previous psychological and physical pains held as a result of previous emotional traumas and disease in our bodies, paving the way for enhanced telepathic communication with others and with the Angelic Realm. The Angelite that was used was picked especially to make the elixir, being three pieces chosen from Stone Corner in Hastings. Very high vibrational energy and specific stones “called out” to be used;

South African Green Jade Heart - Bringing balance into the heart centre and emanating peace and tranquillity to the mind; body and soul. This exquisite gemstone heart, is a deep green – a stone, I feel of joyous love. In its form as an elixir, it brings the deep green energy of the heart to all parts of the body, releasing emotional instability, particularly of irritability and impatience, replacing these feelings with peaceful joyousness.

Watermelon Tourmaline Watermelon Tourmaline works with the Heart chakra, cleansing and removing blockages. As a balancing stone, Watermelon Tourmaline aids in removing insecurities. As a balancing stone, Watermelon Tourmaline functions as a combination of male and female energies, both Yin and Yang together in one crystal. It can help to inspire both creativity and practicality, and connects the Heart Chakra to both physical and spiritual vibrations. Watermelon Tourmaline calms over-active emotions. Watermelon Tourmaline crystal is also believed to help attract love and resolve issues in relationships, infusing them with joy and Divine Love.
Red Ocean Jasper - Ocean Jasper is the most phenomenal healing gemstone I have ever had the pleasure to encounter! Ocean Jasper is very soothing and helps to love one's self as well as others. It is very healing of the emotions and brings peace of mind. It helps with acceptance of responsibility and increases patience. Ocean Jasper heightens awareness in addition to balancing and stabilizing one's ability to handle the input from increased awareness. The circular patterns on ocean jasper symbolize and help us realize that we are all interconnected and nature is a cyclical pattern. It can also help with circular breathing for healing or meditation. Being a type of jasper, ocean jasper is a very protective stone, and any orbs ("eyes") enhance this in regard to protection from the "evil eye." Physically, ocean jasper is beneficial to the digestion, digestive organs, removing toxins, lessen body odour. Amongst its healing properties is the fact that it is the most powerful Gem Stone for healing from Cancer, acting as a lymphatic cleanser; regenerator and rejuvenator as well as getting to the root of any emotional and mental blocks and dis-ease that may have caused the cancer in the first place. It is thus an an all-round healing stone

The new Red Ocean Jasper I made in April 2015 is made with two exceptionally beautiful stones which not only have red ocean jasper in them, but also deep green and also white ocean jasper within them. They are all beautiful orb-shaped pieces and have a stunningly gentle vibration. The Red in the Ocean Jasper is very grounding, which together with the green aspects (heart) and white (crown) bring all aspects of the etheric energy body into balance – the root; heart and crown chakras. It is for these reasons it is included in so many of my constellations and elixirs.

Fire Opal – How I experience Fire Opal is as an “activator” - when my energy is down physically or mentally, I find that Fire Opal picks me up and I feel re-energised instantly – fabulous! There are those who are very sensitive to the powerful cleansing action of Fire Opal, which can bring up long-forgotten emotions from the past in somewhat of an explosive manner when clearing them from our emotional bodies, so is best used with care! It is a great stone for personal power and links to the abdomen; lower back and triple burner meridian;
Imperial Golden Topaz (Numbers 1) – I was guided to pick four crystals, which all have their own individual personalities, and, when choosing crystals for any purpose, I always hold them in my hand first. I was drawn one day in 2010 to make an Imperial Golden Topaz Gem Elixir, so rang up the excellent Stone Corner shop in Old Town Hastings to check they had some in stock. Thankfully they did! The four stones that I selected, after holding several in the palm of my left hand we tiny and exceptionally expensive indeed! Worth it, though! They hold pride of place in my Serenity Room in the Angelic quarter of the room. Each one decided that they wished to be made into individual elixirs and numbered themselves from 1 – 4. They wished to be made in my Edwardian crystal champagne bowls! It was a very specific message in this regard! I guess to respect and honour their “imperial” heritage! They each have their own vibrational frequency and are generally used individually in elixirs, sprays and creams. Its particular strengths lie in not only recharging us spiritually and physically but also in attuning ourselves to the highest forces in the universe! For me, when drinking the elixir, I feel my lower three chakras come back into balance and then shoot the golden energy upwards to my crown chakra bringing all elements of my etheric body into balance and alignment. The great news is that these wonderful stones are also known for strengthening the liver, the gall bladder and the endocrine system.
